Seven sponsors, one mission—sharing love, support, and unforgettable moments in Kenya

In one incredible week, seven amazing women traveled from around the world to Kenya to connect in person with the children and students they sponsor. The journey began in Nairobi, where they met with college students attending school nearby.

Arrival & First Encounters

The group shared a cozy breakfast at Easy Hotel, followed by a visit to the Giraffe Sanctuary—a first-time experience for many of the students. That evening, they enjoyed a special dinner downtown, creating memories and deepening connections through shared laughter and stories.

Journey South: Marikani & Home Visits

Day two brought a scenic train ride from Nairobi to Marikani. After lunch at Hotel Damview with grade nine girls, the group began visiting the homes of sponsored children.

At each stop, sponsors delivered:

  • Bed mats, generously donated by a small group of sponsors 💙
  • Backpacks full of gifts 🎒
  • Bags of food 🍚
  • And most importantly—heartfelt presence and encouragement 💞

Sunday Fellowship

Sunday was a time of reflection and celebration. The group attended a local church where they joined in worship, planted trees, and were honored by women from the congregation with traditional dances and blessings.

Sponsors were dressed in beautiful, gifted Kenyan clothing—visibly moved by the warmth and hospitality.

Home Visits & Outings

The week continued with more home visits and special time with college students, including a lunch outing with one student’s little sister and a guided tour through the bustling street markets of Marikani (where dried salty sardines were a favorite sight).

Eventually, it was time to say goodbye to Hotel Damview and head toward Mombasa for a special closing day.

Final Day by the Ocean

On Thursday, the final day with students, ten college students joined the sponsors at their hotel in Mombasa. There, they enjoyed:

  • An all-you-can-eat buffet (worth every shilling!)
  • Swimming in the pool
  • Bracelet-making in the shade
  • Time to rest, reflect, and connect—surrounded by the ocean breeze

Though one student, Sakina, couldn’t attend due to an important exam, her dedication to education was deeply appreciated and recognized.

Reflections on the Trip

This journey was more than a trip—it was a celebration of the Kenya Kids mission. Through meals shared, hugs exchanged, and homes visited, sponsors witnessed firsthand the impact of their love and support.

As the week came to a close, hearts were full, friendships were deepened, and lives—on both sides of the world—were forever changed.
