Nourishment for Learning: Supporting Families in Kenya

2–3 minutes

When children are nourished, they can learn. When families are supported, communities grow. This is the story of how your support is transforming Kaloleni.

In Kaloleni, Kenya, education is more than what happens inside the classroom—it’s also about making sure children and families have the essentials they need to thrive. Thanks to the dedication of our local team and the generosity of supporters, families are receiving vital food and encouragement that help students stay strong, focused, and ready to learn.

Right now, the students in Kaloleni are on a three-week term break. While school holidays are often a time of rest, they also bring a hard reality: during these breaks, students miss out on the daily breakfast and lunch normally provided at school. For many children, those meals are their most reliable source of nutrition.

A Lifeline During the Break

Thanks to a few generous sponsors, we were able to step in and bridge the gap. Each sponsored student’s family received a bulk food delivery, packed with essential staples – rice, beans, flour, and cooking oil. These supplies not only fill empty stomachs but also bring peace of mind to families facing difficult choices.

Food That Fuels Hope

Distributions like these go beyond meeting physical needs. They relieve the burden on parents, give children strength to play and learn, and provide hope for a more stable future. Seeing families line up to weigh their food, children carrying supplies with big smiles, and motorcycles loaded with bags of flour is a reminder of the impact we can have together.

Community in Action

Our local team continues to visit children and families regularly—delivering not just supplies, but encouragement and support. Every sponsor, every donation, and every delivery helps strengthen families in Kaloleni and gives students the foundation they need to thrive.

Together, we’re helping transform futures in Kaloleni—one meal, one visit, and one student at a time.

Students will return to school on August 25, where the daily meals will once again support their learning and growth. Until then, this food delivery helped ensure no child goes hungry during the break.
